What can I expect from my first inspection? | QCS

What can I expect from my first CQC inspection after starting as a Domiciliary Care Agency?

Dear Urmila,

The inspection will be based upon the Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs) for Community Services which you can find here: Community services KLOE and Prompts with evidence column

Reading the KLOEs will give you a good idea of what it is that the CQC will be looking for.

Additionally, you will probably have been asked by CQC to complete a Provider Information Return (PIR). You should put as much information as possible in the PIR as inspectors will use the information as a key part of the information they have about your service.

If I were an inspector I would be interested in some key areas:

Have your staff had induction training and is training continuing to be delivered to them (the Care Certificate)?
Are your staff records complete?
Are your policies and procedures up to date and are you keeping the appropriate records especially around “Is it safe?” and safeguarding?
Do you have a system for auditing the quality of the care being delivered?

If you are familiar with the KLOEs and you are familiar with the regulations then I think you will be ready.

Please come back to me if there is anything else you would like to know.
