Do I need to keep daily records of the clients in a day centre and do I need to have personal files for each?  | QCS

Hi Sheila,
Do I need to keep daily records of the clients in a day centre and do I need to have personal files for each?

Dear Karen,

Thank you for your question.

As you know day centres are not subject to regulation by the Care Quality Commission.

If you are starting a new day care centre there are though a number of other regulations and requirements that you will have to comply with.

For instance if you are providing food and drink you will be required to comply with the relevant food safety and food hygiene regulations and it will be the same with Health and  Safety legislation.

I would have thought that both these sets of regulations would require you to keep records of the people attending your service as I expect your insurance company will too.

It is I therefore I believe essential that you keep records of all the people that will be attending your day centre including all the information that you believe to be relevant.

With best wishes.

Sheila
