How can incentivise my staff? | QCS

Hello Senga, I would like to ask your opinion; we have an incentive scheme at our work ranging from monthly gift cards to twice yearly mini breaks for staff members and their kids to Flamingo Land. It seems to be very much appreciated by our staff as they can take their kids and they are all happy and safe. Do you have any other incentive schemes you would recommend for staff?

Hello Liz,

Thank you for your message, I’m very happy to hear your employer demonstrates appreciation and rewards their staff. Staff are any company’s greatest asset and are the face of your service and it is very important to look after them. Incentives are welcomed by staff and have been shown to improve such things as attendance and standards of care. Incentives I have used are:

  • Employee of the Month – A service user can nominate people who go above and beyond the call of duty.

  • Bonus awards – This could be a financial award given annually to reward attendance.  I know a company who give all staff in the service a financial reward if the service obtained Excellent from the regulator.

  • Celebration – Celebrate employees service at the workplace, such as 5 years, 10 years, thanking them for their commitment to the company.

  • Kindness – Some companies give free lunch to their staff which can often be the staffs main meal of the day, saving them money and having a hot cooked nutritious meal.

  • Perks – Organisations that work with employers to offer their workers money off various shops.

I hope that gives you food for thought Liz. Good Luck.
