I have been asked to complete my Provider Information Return (PIR) and am concerned about the type of information required by this question.
Please list any good practice or accreditation schemes/initiatives/networks you are currently a member of?
I believe that this is a key question and you can use it to demonstrate your commitment to quality.
In my experience care providers are usually poor at “blowing their own trumpet” but this is your chance to show your ambitions for your provision.
These are some of my suggestions for completing this question.
To begin with the obvious:
- QCS Quality Management System
- Member of National Care Association
………then look closely at all the things you do
- Member of a local Association
- Member of a Skills Academy Manager’s local network
- Use the Skills for Care and National Skills Academy Values Based Recruitment toolkit
- Signed up to the Social Care Commitment
- An Investor in People
- Has the Gold Standard Framework for End of Life Care
- Signed up to the Dementia Pledge
There are any number of networks, initiatives and quality indicators available ……… but if you are going to list anything you are subscribed to it is essential that you are actually using the system and where possible you are able to identify the outcome that it has on the people you care for or your staff.
