Hi Sheila, what is a respectable time to get a resident up, washed and dressed in the mornings?
Dear C,
Thank you for your question.
All care should be provided with a person centred approach.
The time that service users rise should be based on their wishes.
If it is not so easy anymore for the service user to make decisions then the care plan should contain the information about the person’s past history and information from the service user’s family and friends to make decisions about these matters.
Decisions about rising and the time for breakfast should be built around the individual resident.
It is absolutely never acceptable to make decisions about getting up, getting washed and getting dressed for the convenience of the service or the staff.
That is the worst possible practice.
Best wishes.
Sheila
