Hi Shelia, can you tell me the difference between NVQ health and social care and a diploma level 2?
Dear C,
Thank you for your question.
The delivery of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) was withdrawn in 2015 and replaced by the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) which included the diploma qualification.
On 1st January 2018 QCF was replaced by the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
When recruiting staff both NVQ and QCF remain relevant qualifications although the employer will need to be sure that the employee continues to keep their training under review and refresh it where necessary.
Therefore the only Level 2 qualification that you will be able to commission now will be Health and Social Care RQF Diploma.
Staff that were already undertaking a QCF qualification will be able to complete it.
You can find further information on the Skills for Care website:

Best wishes.
